3 Ways to Style The Mini Skirt

Read

One of the newest brands in town asked me to take part in their launch photoshoot and of course I had to say yes. Moiva BG specializes in tailored and structured pieces play on the crossover between menswear and womenswear, but in a very soft and feminine way. Between the materials and the designs there's an undoubtable sexiness about the pieces that are far from subtle. The garbs as a stand alone say "I have arrived!" Bold, fiery, fierce and 100% woman.

My favorite piece from the collection is the Alani skirt. A structured high waist that creates an hourglass illusion and high low hem that is fun and flirty.

Modern Chic –all about pairing everyday pieces with glam pieces for both daytime and night out looks

  1. A mini skirt and t-shirt might've been an unusual pairing a few years ago about in the name of modern chic it works. A pop of color on the feet like these ASOS finds which are dupes of the cult brand The Attico's Venus pumps, and currently sold out.  Sharing similar shoes here, here, and here. Shades and clutch in a punchy neutral to play into the color theory and tie it all together.
  2. For a more laidback luxe look, pair mini skirt with an oversized white button up shirt, lug sole loafers and your favorite shoulder bag- like the Prada Cleo. Gold chunky necklace to balance it all out and oversized shades for a little allure. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you city chic.
  3. The cooler seasons means more clothes and less skin, or does it? A highneck sweater in the same olive green family, tucked into the mini skirt makes for effortless dressing. Layered with a shearling jacket like this one from Rails (which is on sale and on my wishlist) also in the same tone. Brown over the knee boots for the perfect winter outfit.

Dressed up or dressed down, the Alani skirt from Moiva BG plays the part. Head over to my instagram for more mini skirt outfit inspiration. As always, sending nothing but good vibes.

How to Wear Statement Jeans

Read

I was always a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal. My approach to style and fashion is quite simple, but something about the plain duo makes it feel like a blank canvas to have fun with shoe and accessory options. The problem was, I could never find a pair of denim that fit me just right. However, the more aware I've become of my body, the more I realize how much rides on the cut of the jeans and your body type, and not what’s trending at the moment. Today I want to share how to make a simple tank and denim, the ultimate chic outfit.

As mentioned, with denim it always comes down to the cut and shape. It’s always important to choose a shape that compliments your body type. I have broader shoulders and narrow hips, so I like to go for high waist silhouettes that cinch at the waist creating an hourglass illusion and separating my top half from my bottom half. These days, I'm avoiding skinny jeans like the plague and opting for a wide or straight leg situation, to elongate the body. Trust me, you’ll be serving nothing but supermodel legs. The wider pant leg will also allow you to be more flexible with your shoe choice. Flats, sneakers or heels- it accommodates whichever vibe you’re going for.

A basic tank top can never go out of style, but to make it more current we’ll go for a shape that’s all over the fashion scene at the moment: The cut-out and in bodysuit form.

The waist detail on these jeans allow me to skip a belt, giving me the minimal vibe that we love, right? While pairing them with barely-there sandals (a true wardrobe staple) effortlessly elevating any look. A small bag and silver jewelry with slicked back hair for final touches. And while this is optional, draping an oversized blazer over your shoulders, for a night time look adds a certain je nais se quoi of pure sophistication!

It’s standard, straight to the point but with a subtly, sexy twist that's far from boring. That’s what styling is all about; taking something "basic" and embedding your identity into it. I hope you all enjoyed today’s little style play by play. Tell me...what's your go-to jeans and a tshirt vibes? Daring and dressy or cute and casual?Let me know! How To Do Color + Layer Like A Minimalist

Read

Do I qualify as a minimalist if I'm afraid of wearing color? I mean, I'm not afraid of wearing color, I just don't feel as sophisticated and put together as I'd like to when I do.

As spring comes around and all the current fashion trends are revealed for the new season, I can't help but feel bombarded with bright colors and heavy prints. Which, isn't necessarily a bad thing but what do you do when it's not really your thing?

Buying colorful clothing items isn't a problem for me, it's how to style those items in a way that doesn't come across as too busy and distracting. Personally, my minimalism comes in the form of clean lines and negative space and less about a muted color palette, although...major heart eyes for a neutral outfit and interior space.

And I know what you're all going to say... "these aren't even bright enough colors for spring!" I know! Baby steps! I'm experimenting with comfortable prints and color and trying to marry them in a way that creates a flow that's sophisticated but still fun. Allow me to share with you my thought process here...

I always like to start with a base color, which would be black because of the lines in the sweater. Automatically, the print is easier on the eye and directs your eye seamlessly to the rest of the look. Initially, I was going to do a red turtleneck with this look but it was giving more fall vibes than spring, so I switched it out for this yellow cashmere blend turtleneck from Mango. Other colors like a pale pink, orange or even a lighter or brighter green would also work for a more springy feel. Allowing the color to slightly peek out gives it that layered look which is so chic. Black boots to elogate the legs and another "pop of color" in the accessories, ties everything together. Pulling the hair away from the face just makes all these subtle aspects of the look just pop in the most polished, clean way and I live for it!

I was so pleased with this look, that it has encouraged me to push the envelop just a bit more with different outfits and ideas. Hopefully this post is also motivating you to start building up your color confidence at your own comfort, of course. A good start is buying basics in colors you don't usually reach for, and try to incorporate it where you would usually do black or denim. Until next time, sending you all the good vibes...

Love, Love

Read

Valentine's Day, you either hate this unofficial holiday or you love it. Between the PDA and couples posts all over social media and people professing their deepest feelings for their significant others, it can be a lot. And depending on where you are (romantically) in your life, it can easily influence you to either ends of the "dis tew much" spectrum.

To me, Valentine's Day is just another day to show the people in your life how much you care about them. Whether it's your partner, or best friend or family members it's really about spreading and sharing the love.

And if you're single or not necessarily interested in spoiling other people, there's always spoiling yourself. From you, to you. Treat yourself to a self care weekend, buy yourself some chocolates and flowers. Make yourself your favorite meal, topped with a cheeky dessert. After all self love, is the best love. So love on yourself a little extra today.

This Valentine's Day I teamed up with the creatives over at AvantGarde Beauty Studio, here in Belgrade. They specialize in all things beauty, decked with certified estheticians, nail techs, hair stylists, make up artists- who's work ranges from regular make up applications (weddings, birthdays, events), to more theatrical, stagecraft style make up. Anything beauty you can think of, they offer the professional service.

We came up with the idea to do something cute and fun, using Rihanna's 2017 Elle cover shot as inspo. I loved working with both Ivana and Filip on this project and cannot wait to share with you all, all the other ideas we have up our sleeves. So what do you guys think? Did we nail it, or what!?

As always, I will be sharing a few shots over on my instagram, so follow me there (@_heyprettyface) if you're not doing so already. And if you are here from instagram, leave me a red heart in the comment section down below, so I know. Sending you all so much love this Valentine's Day xoxo.

Favorite Current Trend: Mango Oversized Knit Vest

Read

This trend has made it's way into every "fashion girl's" closet the last couple seasons or so.  And with the current weather situation having been a lovely low 60's with the average of 8 hours of sun (I was in Arizona when I wrote this)... I think, layered over your staple fall pieces, this knitted vest trend is the perfect outfit.

Oversized knit, but make it a vest!

The range this fall item offers is limitless. There are just so many ways you can dress this look up. From layering it over a dress for a casual vibe, to pairing it under...or over a suit if you'd like, for a more sophisticated look, or the one-hand-tuck into a pair of vegan leather trousers and combat boots for some edge.  Hello options! The knit vest proves both stylish and sustainable.

Now that I'm back in Belgrade, and it's full on winter, I'm talking mid 30's and snow. I would layer the same 'fit with a long sleeve turtle neck underneath, thicker tights and throw on a black oversized wool coat and matching scarf for warmth.

Hope you all enjoyed today's fun outfit post. Until next time...
