Copenhagen Fashion Week. Yes, you read that correctly. And yes! It is very much a thing. If you didn’t know, well now you know. And honestly, it’s a fashion week to look out for.

I came across CPHFW about 2 years ago when a style account I’d been following (@nordicstylereport) covered some events for that fashion week and was pleasantly surprised by the street style photos. I was impressed and in awe of all the Northern girls’ styles and their fresh approach to color and print. CPHFW gained my respect and here’s why...

Copenhagen Fashion week covers designers, bloggers and fashion brands specifically from the Nordic regions which includes countries like Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. (I only know this because ironically, I was watching the series Vikings on Netflix at that time- obsessed!). But what really drew me to Nordic styles was the mix of minimalism, neutrals and the androgynous silhouettes. Very much like the Scandinavian interior design vibe but make it fashion. If you look under the hashtag CPHFW, you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.

Though I would personally love to see a little more diversity from the bloggers and digital creators’ perspective, the designers and fashion brands like @freyadalsjo and @ceciliebahnsen to name a few, definitely showcased diversity with the models they selected for their shows. I appreciate that. Copenhagen Fashion Week seems to still be in its early stages, and not really getting the publicity (they deserve) like its veteran counterparts, but I give it a few more seasons before it becomes another fashion “must attend” occasion. Mark my words.

By the time I post this article, fashion week would’ve come and gone, but seeing that it is fashion month, I still wanted to go ahead and share some bloggers and accounts from that region that I follow and enjoyed watching during their fashion week coverages.

Aylin @aylin_koenig there’s just something about her neutral/natural vibe with pops of color that really does it for me. (She missed this year's fw but love her acocunt nonetheless)

Marianne @marianne_theodorsen a stylist who’s style pushes borders and boundaries, full of life and color. Very bold, very different. I appreciate her artistry.

Pornwika @ps.shadeaofmylife my personal style spirit animal, in my opinion.

Josephine @josephineaarkrogh  a woman who can marry her home life with her work life and make it look so graceful and elegant, and stylishly at that? Teach me.

Nnenna @nnennaechem she just owns it, color blocking queen, print mixing master, I mean...what can she not do? Her fun approach to fashion proves exactly why she gets a seat at the table.

As for me and my outfit I found this thrifted oversized shirt and loved the idea of pairing it with these extra long, flowy split side pants from Guess. Keeping the accessories in the neutral palette to balance everything out and that pony...whew chile. The icing on the cake.

I hope you all enjoyed my spin on the CPHFW style. Also don't forget to check out these amazing women in fashion if you're looking for new faces to follow. With all that being said, Happy Fashion Month!
