Holiday Party Outfit Inspiration

Who's still having holiday parties? We are. And by "we", I mean the Serbian Orthodox who operate on the "late Julian" calendar. Meaning our Christmas and New Year has been delayed say...13 days or so.

That's right, that means I celebrated both sets of holidays, both times. Not to mention our family celebrates our saint (Sv. Jovan) towards the end of January so it's just a party, after party, after party. And I'm all partied out. But I couldn't close out the party season without sharing one of my favorite outfits with you guys.

*Record scratches* roll the sequins and glitter outfit rack back in.
If you’re anything like me, and you're over the excessiveness of the sequins and the glitter, I’ve put together a look that says “I’m here for the party, not as part of the party decor”.

As a self-proclaimed glam minimalist, I’ve been experimenting with different ways to dress for the occasions without falling into the trend box that comes with the season.

For example, wearing colors that are rich and vibrant and keeping the sparkles to the minimum and only in my accessories. That way you get dress up the look instead of overwhelming it.

Tights and stockings are always a fun way to enhance an outfit. I like the way the print in these, direct your eye upwards by elongating the legs, and introducing the rest of the look.

A simple shoe with a little touch of glam to finish off the ‘fit and tie it all together et voila! Good to go.

If you’re not a fan of big accessories, and like it keep it a little more clean and classic. You can always opt for a more simple but timeless diamanté stud earring. It’s glam in its own elegant way. It leaves room for you to add a necklace without overwhelming that area, that way adding a little spice on your “everyday accessories”.

Thigh high boots are the easiest way to take it up a notch. Plain sheer tights for cohesiveness and warmth. Layer a black mesh turtleneck/mock-neck underneath to stay weather appropriate. A simple, yet sexy look for those of us who truly believe less is more.

So, my question to you is, which is more your style? Accessorized or clean and chic?

Hope you all brought in the new year exactly how you envisioned it. Cheers to prosperous New Year!
