This outfit was actually determined by the plaid trench coat. I loved the color palette of baby blue with red, but over a white dress, the red didn’t pop like I wouldv'e liked it to. And that’s where the red boots come in.

Boots are a fall/winter wardrobe staple. Whether they’re thigh highs, over the knee or ankle boots, going into the colder seasons means it’s time to bring out the boots. But what about statement red boots? I know back in A/W 18 red boots made a lot of appearances on the runway and transitioned into the street style scene. However, in a world of minimal style and neutral trends how do you style red statement boots and still stay current?

I think the key to styling statement pieces, are to 1) keep everything else neutral so to allow the statement piece to make its statement. And 2) keep all pieces in the same color palette that way the pieces complement one another, instead of clashing.

This sheer Vera Moda dress is a really cute stand-alone piece, but to make it weather appropriate, I layered it with the same color long sleeved turtleneck. The print in the trench coat was subtle enough to allow for another statement piece but if that’s not your style you can opt for a more neutral shoe, like black or even beige boots and let the coat do it's own thing. In this case though, I felt that a bright red boot would take this look to fashion heights.

These red boots from Zara were originally $150 however I snagged them in the holiday sales for $30 now tell me that’s not a steal.

How would you style red statement boots? Let me know in the comments or over on my instagram and leave a red heart to let me know you're part of the blog family. Meet you over there!
